European tech startup JustTip has been awarded Best New Tech Startup at this year’s Tech Excellence Awards 2022, held last night in Dublin.
The Irish startup, which also has a UK base, was recently featured by London Issue as a rising contender in the universal wireless payment technology space.
As the UK transitions further towards wireless payment ecosystems, businesses are vying to get the latest technology into the hands of consumers to help make their payments easier, and more secure in a variety of industries.
Having transformed the relationship between consumers and businesses, JustTip faced a number of strong contenders at this year’s Tech Excellence Awards, held at Dublin’s Royal Marine Hotel on Wednesday.
Considered as Ireland’s principal badge of honour in the IT industry, the Tech Excellence Awards programme recognises excellence not only in implementing tech solutions, but also in the business of marketing and implementing technology for business.
Founded in July 2021 by two 20-year-olds, Ciara Walsh and James Fahy, JustTip looked at transforming the relationship between consumers and businesses through a uniquely developed payments system, allowing people to receive cashless payments through smartphone tipping.
James Fahy, co-founder of JustTip speaking at last night’s ceremony said, “Covid decimated the hospitality industry so Ciara and I founded JustTip to ensure service workers across all sectors could get the rewards that they have so clearly earnt and deserved. It was, and will remain so, the right thing to do.”
Thanks to their approach, JustTip has emerged as a major contender in the European tech scene, forging partnerships with more than 180 hospitality clients across Ireland and the U.K. so far according to the company.
JustTip also relieves employers of the burden of managing and disseminating tips, enhancing employee recruitment and retention, and guards against unfavourable market perception. The process of transparent tip payouts to employees, including an instant phone notice and direct deposit of tips into their bank accounts has been one of the startup’s defining successes in its early adoption phase as people move towards a cashless society.
Following its rollout in the U.K. since the start of the year, the startup has begun serving customers in the U.S., which is set to shape the company’s fortunes as it seeks to capitalise on strong growth within the rebounding hospitality sector in various markets.
